DEWALT
Building Brand Visibility Through Community Discussions and Facebook Promotion We started talking to DEWALT in February 2022. The partnership began with Reddit marketing and later expanded to include Facebook marketing and advertising. Our role has been to help the brand appear in relevant conversations and reach more potential customers through ongoing social media activity.
Challenge
DEWALT was already a well-known name when we began talking. As more people used social platforms to discuss tools, compare products, and decide what to buy, the team wanted to build on that position.
We spent time learning about the products, the business, and where our support could be useful. We felt the pressure from the beginning. There was an established reputation to respect, and we wanted to contribute something worthwhile.
Reddit gave us a place to start. The client valued the platform’s influence and the trust people place in its discussions. Conversations about tools and projects offered opportunities to connect with people who were already asking questions, considering options, or seeking advice.
Taking part in those conversations required care. A promotional message can feel out of place when someone is trying to solve a specific problem. We needed to understand what was being discussed before deciding whether, and how, information about DEWALT could help.
That gave the partnership its initial focus: relevant discussions, useful contributions, and opportunities for interested users to learn more.
Our Approach
Starting With Relevant Reddit Discussions
Our Reddit work focused on finding relevant topics and participating in conversations where information about DEWALT could be useful.
We started with the context. What was the person asking? What kind of work did they have in mind? Were they comparing products, trying to understand a feature, or looking for a tool suited to a particular job?
Those questions shaped our response. Sometimes a clear explanation was enough. Sometimes a link to relevant product information gave someone a useful next step. And sometimes there was no good reason to mention the brand at all.
Knowing the difference was part of the work. We wanted our contributions to answer the question being asked and give interested readers a reason to explore further.
Respecting the Community and Getting the Details Right
Each Reddit community has its own rules and expectations. We took those differences into account, keeping promotional activity relevant to the topic and within the rules of the community.
That meant avoiding repeated sales pitches, unrelated links, and forced brand mentions. A softer approach still needed to be accurate and clear about the commercial relationship.
The work also took patience. Discussions could move in unexpected directions, and some questions needed checking before we could answer them.
We would rather take the time to get a product detail right than rush a reply just to keep the conversation moving. When people are comparing tools for a particular job, those details matter.
Expanding Into Facebook Marketing and Advertising
As the partnership developed, our responsibilities expanded to include Facebook marketing and advertising.
The aim was to increase brand awareness and support the client’s efforts to maintain market share. Facebook gave us another way to reach relevant audiences beyond the discussions we were working with on Reddit.
It called for a different approach. On Reddit, we began with an existing question or conversation. On Facebook, we had to consider what would catch someone’s attention as they browsed and what we wanted them to do next.
Product features, practical uses, and demonstrations gave us different ways to introduce the tools. The message, the format, and the next step for the viewer needed to work together.
Matching the Content to the Audience
Someone who uses tools regularly may already know exactly which features they want to compare. Someone tackling an occasional home project may need a simpler explanation of what a tool is suited to.
Those differences shaped how we approached the content. We considered what the audience was likely to know, what information would help, and how to present it clearly.
Advertising also meant taking care with the budget. We considered the audience, the message, and the creative material together, using the available performance information to identify what needed attention or adjustment.
Reddit and Facebook each had a clear role. Reddit let us contribute to active discussions about tools and buying decisions. Facebook content and advertising supported broader exposure. Both served the wider goal of keeping DEWALT visible and relevant to potential customers.

Result
By September 2026, more than four years had passed since our first conversations. We continued to support Reddit marketing alongside the Facebook marketing and advertising added later.
What began with a defined area of work had grown into a broader, ongoing relationship. It has been good to see that develop and to remain involved as the client’s plans moved forward.
Our work is part of a much wider effort. DEWALT’s position reflects its products, its people, and work happening across the business. Our responsibility is to make a useful contribution through the social media activity entrusted to us.
A long partnership also changes what a client should be able to expect. They shouldn’t have to explain the same background every time a new task comes up. We want to understand the context, notice what needs attention, and communicate clearly when something needs a decision.
For us, dependable support comes down to the everyday work: doing what we agreed to do, asking questions when something is unclear, and being upfront about what needs to change.
Writing this case study brought us back to those first conversations about where to start. Reddit gave us that first step. Facebook came later as the scope expanded.
More than four years on, we’re still focused on doing the work well and continuing to earn the client’s trust.
